Although I haven’t mentioned it on this page before, writing is a large part of my professional life. I write for two hours every morning before I come into work, and then often I come in and write some more. Some of my writing is ghostwriting I can’t discuss, but I’d like to alert you to pieces that will appear under my name either later this winter or this spring. Judy and I have a new article scheduled for the March issue of Progress in Transplantation. It is entitled, “Addressing the Unintended Adverse Consequences of First-Person Consent and Donor Registries.”

Sixty-two hospitals completed the Lean portion of
the collaborative and reported their project results to the entire group last December. While the focus of the collaborative was improving Length of Stay in the ER, many of the participants found the enhanced communication and teamwork inside the ER and flowing out to units in the hospital, the lab, radiology and emergency medical services to be equally valuable.

At the moment, I'm most focused on a new concept, Leading Culture Change from the Hubs, that I believe is the wave of the future in lean continuous improvement.

S
ince VERBLE, WORTH & VERBLE was incorporated in 1982, we have provided quality services to an array of clients in both the public and private sectors. Some of our business relationships extend for over two decades, but we also take on new clients every year. We practice as individuals, in partnerships with one another and also with other consultants, the Lean Transformation Group, the Lean Enterprise Institute, Roberts and Kay and the Center for Quality People and Organizations, which gives us the flexibility to take on larger projects.
We enjoy working in Lexington, but are often far from home. In 2010, we’ve had projects in 20 different states, 3 Canadian provinces, Spain, Northern Ireland, England, Scotland and Sweden. Many of our clients are in healthcare or manufacturing. But some are in higher education, financial services, charity and the military. On all projects, we use a wide range of skills, including practical analysis, writing, synthesizing and the application of a deep knowledge base accumulated over years. Some consulting companies employ mostly young people with recent degrees. We see advantages to new angles and fresh ideas and bring creativity to every project we do. But we also think that nothing gives perspective like some actual experience.
Verble, Worth and Verble is a majority female-owned, operated and controlled business and we have recently received certification through the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council. This means if you have a commitment to buying services from diversified suppliers as part or your corporate culture or if you are operating under a governmental mandate to award a specific portion of contracts to female-owned business, we officially qualify. We, of course, welcome all business.
